Storm Ciara

While Cyclone Damien is expected to hit the Australian region, the United Kingdom is not left behind and a storm with the name Ciara is all set to lash the nation. Due to Ciara, there are several yellow warnings in place for rains, snowfall as well as wind right from Saturday until next week. On Sunday, some parts may even see amber alerts.

Travel disruption is expected in the region and power outages are also likely. Flooding conditions and flying debris are also expected. Wind gusts from 60-80 mph are expected and infrastructure in the southern parts may even suffer some damage.

Before the arrival of the storm, high pressure has brought in dry and sunny weather in many parts. However, by tomorrow, yellow wind warning is in place for Northwest England, Scotland and northern parts of Ireland. This warning will come into force for entire United Kingdom as well.

Snowfall as well as wind warnings will remain in place for Northern Ireland as well as Scotland until Tuesday. This will not only result in stranded vehicles and power cuts but also rail and air cancellations.

After Storm Ciara passes away, there is expected to be some respite. However, windy and unsettled conditions will persist and will become colder. There is fear of ice and wintry showers thereafter.
