Tropical weather system likely in Atlantic by July end

July 22, 2016 1:47 PM |

Atlantic_hurricane The Atlantic basin will continue to witness dry air blowing over the region for the next few weeks. However, we could see some tropical activity developing near the west coast of Africa during the last few days of July.

Thought quite low, we cannot rule out the chances of a tropical development in the proximity of the Cape Verde Islands in the fag end of July.

Thunderstorms while moving westwards across Africa generally have the potential to organize into tropical systems as and when they enter the warm and moisture laden environment of the Atlantic Ocean.

These thunderstorm activities could also gradually evolve into a tropical storm or hurricane. As we near the end of July and beginning of August, the most favored areas for the development of tropical storms shift eastwards from the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean to the north of the equator, over the central parts of the Atlantic.

The expected areas for the tropical storms increase as the extent of dry air and disruptive winds tend to shrink by August.

Going by historical records, we can say that the months of June and July do not see the development of too many tropical storms across the Atlantic basin. Moreover, we also do not witness hurricanes until the latter part of August.
