Typhoon Talim hits Japan; flights, bullet train services affected

Typhoon Talim which had wreaked havoc over the regions of Taiwan as well as some areas of China has moved towards Japan. The 18th Typhoon of the Pacific season has resulted in way more chaos in many areas of Japan.

The southwestern parts of Japan have not only seen hefty amounts of rainfall, but the region has also seen major disruptions in terms of power outages as well as train and flight cancellations as well as disruptions.

Talim made landfall in the southern island of Kyushu in the Japanese nation and resulted in heavy rains and gusty winds. Not only this, the possibility of high waves, landslides, mudslides and flash floods are highly likely over the regions.

As per reports, over 600 flights have been cancelled and Shinkansen bullet train services were also suspended. Power failure in at least 2000 households in both Kyushu and Shinkansen was observed.

Evacuations for areas including Miyazaki, Kagoshima, Oita, Kumamoto and Fukuoka has also been advised.

By Sunday evening, the possibility of Typhoon Talim bringing in rains and heavy winds to the Tokyo region also cannot be ruled out due to the northeastward movement of the storm. Coastal areas of Japan are expected to witness heavy rains, as well as flooding for quite some time.
