Health tips to combat common cold

Your head aches, you can hardly breathe and you feel something in your throat. You are surely coming down with something.

When cold is common to happen 3 -4 times in a year, especially during October-March, you need to know how to tackle it. Instead of enduring it for a week, read on to get rid of the annoying cold in just 2-3 days.

Drink liquids – Water, hot water, limited amount of tea, soups and juices should be an essential part of your daily diet when you have the cold. Fluids prevent dehydration and help in thinning out the mucus which in turn results in unclogging of the nose. The warmth of the warm helps in breaking the congestion.

Find the Kitchen Kings – Get hold of your mother’s kitchen assets such as turmeric, ginger and garlic to fight off the cold in a couple of days. Mix them with honey or use part of it in your meals.

Gargle - Gargling done with saline water helps in moistening a sore throat. Instead of salt, one can also use honey and apple cider vinegar to gargle.

Take a Steamy Shower – When feeling low and extremely sick, steamy shower can help uplifting your mood.  It also help you in relaxing after your entire day of blowing nose.

Eat immunity boosting food – Eggs, Bananas, beetroot, green leafy vegetables and food enriched in Vitamin C will help in opening up your blocked nose and providing some relief from aches and pains.

Get enough sleep – Most of us fight hard to get enough sleep. However, getting enough sleep is important to keep the cold at bay. You need to give enough time to your body to fight off the cold.
