India rainsNorthwest and Central India have been battling prolonged dry weather conditions. However, weather pattern is now all set to change, with rains to make appearance over most parts of the country.

Further, weathermen foresee more weather systems forming over several parts of the country that would collectively give rains over most parts of India in the coming week.

As per the weather models, season’s first active Western Disturbance is approaching Jammu and Kashmir and would start impacting the weather by December 10. This system would also induce a cyclone circulation over northwest Rajasthan. A trough is also likely to extend from this system up to Uttar Pradesh.

At present, a depression is already tracking in Bay of Bengal, which is likely to get more marked and travel towards North Andhra Pradesh coast by December 10. Subsequently, entrainment due to proximity to the coast and cold sea surface temperatures would weaken the system.

However, remnants of the system would continue influence the weather along the East Coast and eastern parts of the country. Coupled with the other system, rainfall would be widespread over East India.

Let us have a look at the rainfall forecast across the country from December 10-12.

December 10: Scattered rains are expected over Rajasthan and over isolated parts of adjoining parts of Gujarat. Light rain would also commence over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Scattered rains over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal including Kolkata.

December 11: Entire plains of Northwest India are likely to see widespread moderate rains and thundershowers. Most parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, West Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, West and North Madhya Pradesh would see good showers. Higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand would witness good spell of rain and snow.

In East India, many parts of Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura would also see light to moderate rains.

As a part of the Northeast Monsoon activity, some light showers are also expected over southern parts of the country.

December 12: Rain and snow would continue over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand by Tuesday. Meanwhile, rain belt will shift eastwards and cover most parts of Indo-Gangetic plains that include East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and parts of West Bengal.

Isolated light rains are likely over Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
