Cyclone development chances remain intact; rain likely to continue in east, northeast

The chances of development of a cyclonic storm remains intact in the Bay of Bengal as a low pressure area has formed in southeast Bay of Bengal and could possibly intensify into a depression or deep depression in next 48 to 72 hours. Weather will be dry over northwest and north India in the next two days. Rain will continue in northeast states at many places and at one or two places in Bihar, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal. Rain will also continue to occur over south Peninsula during the period.

Rain is likely to continue over West Bengal and Sikkim at a few places during the next two days. Northeastern states would continue to garner rain at many places due to the cyclonic circulation over east Assam and Nagaland at this time.

Rain will continue over Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and Andhra Pradesh during the next two days. The wind dis-continuity now runs from east Uttar Pradesh to Kerala across Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and interior Karnataka. Kerala and Tamil Nadu will receive rain at a few places while Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh will see rain at very few places.

Temperatures in north India will rise due to reduced cloud cover. There are no major changes in mercury levels in northwest India. Temperature in Delhi will not change much in the next two days. Wind will be northerly to northwesterly in Delhi as of now.

Rain will reduce over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand in the next 24 hours. One or two places in Jammu & Kashmir may get rain but at large dry weather conditions would prevail here in next two to three days. The Western Disturbance lies over Jammu & Kashmir and it will move east-northeastwards during this period.
