Varanasi, Lucknow, Allahabad and Kanpur to get good rains

Rain in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh has witnessed a good Monsoon season to date. However, the intensity of rains has reduced since a few days. Currently, the depression which was over Southeast Uttar Pradesh has given good rains over Varanasi and adjoining districts. The system has now weakened into a well-marked low and is now persisting over Northeast Madhya Pradesh.

It is likely to weaken gradually and would move in the westerly direction. As per Skymet Weather, the intensity of rain will decrease over most parts of Uttar Pradesh. However scattered rains will continue for next two days. By July 29 the axis of Monsoon trough is expected to shift Northwards and rains will once again increase over Uttar Pradesh by July 30 and 31. The intensity will further increase and many parts of East and West Uttar Pradesh will start receiving light to moderate showers.

By August 1 the axis of Monsoon trough will shift to foothills of Himalayas and moderate rains with one or two heavy spells are expected over northern districts like Lakhimpur Kheri, Behraich, Gorakhpur, Sidharthnagar, Pillibhit and Bareilly. However, Lucknow and Kanpur may receive light to moderate rains in the next 24 hours.

Varanasi and Allahabad will see a reduction in rains after 24 hours. In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Wednesday Allahabad recorded 12.2 mm of rain, Jhansi and Agra 9.6 mm and Varanasi 4.8 mm.
