Heavy rain expected in Mumbai today

August 2, 2013 1:40 PM |

Heavy rain is expected in the commercial capital Mumbai today. The city is likely to receive over 50 mm of rain which will decrease in intensity by tomorrow.  Though, it may not affect normal life, it is still advised that commuters especially office goers and school children plan well in advance before venturing out.

The amount of rain the city is expected to receive could cause waterlogging and flooding at several places. Low lying areas could be the worst hit as rain may enter the houses here.  Traffic jams are also a big possibility in these rains. Local train services may also get delayed as heavy downpour may lead to railway lines getting inundated.

Meanwhile, the city has already received three-fourths of its annual average rainfall. And with over two months for the monsoon to be over, it seems that rainfall would exceed the normal figures in Mumbai.
