Heavy rains lash Mumbai again, more rains predicted tomorrow

July 23, 2013 1:59 PM |

As predicted earlier, it has been raining heavily in Mumbai since midnight and the city has already received over 50 mm of rain which is expected to increase further during the day.

Several low lying areas including Dadar, Hindmata and Elphinstone road have been inundated in flood waters. Heavy traffic jams have also been reported from several areas in the city due to water-logging.

Office goers are the worst affected as it has taken them hours to reach office due to long traffic jams and flooded roads.

Alert of a high tide has also been sounded in the city which could worsen the situation in the event of continued rainfall.

Meanwhile, weathermen have forecast frequent spells of rain or showers over the next 48 hours. Tomorrow the city could record over 100mm of rain.
