16 August, 2015 Monsoon Update: Skymet Weather

August 15, 2015 5:54 PM |

The country wide rainfall deficiency has been stagnant at 9% since August 9. But now, this figure is expected to rise marginally, due to subdued rainfall activity during next couple of days.

The Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir will bring some light rain over the state.

The cyclonic circulation over Punjab and adjoining areas will become less marked by tomorrow. Thus, rainfall will decrease over the plains of North India including North Rajasthan. The cyclonic circulation area over Southeast Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Madhya Pradesh has become less marked.

A trough can be seen extending from Punjab to Odisha across Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand. It will bring light to moderate rain over East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and parts of Odisha.

The Monsoon trough will shift northwards, closer to the foothills of the Himalayas. Therefore, rain will increase along the foothills of Northeast India, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

The off-shore trough along the West Coast will continue to bring light to moderate showers over parts of Karnataka and Kerala.

Light rainfall likely over Marathwada and Vidarbha. But, West Rajasthan and Kutch will remain dry.
