July 17, 2015 6:40 PM |

On Saturday, Eid will be celebrated amidst cloudy to partly weather in most parts of the country. Rain and thundershowers are likely in major Indian cities including Delhi, Amritsar, Ajmer, Lucknow and Hyderabad. Good showers likely in Kerala and Karnataka as well. West Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu will be mostly dry.

The previous Western Disturbance is moving away, but we can see another system approaching the hills of North India. Tomorrow, Monsoon showers are likely in eastern parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

The Monsoon trough will shift south of Delhi, extending from North Rajasthan to east central Bay of Bengal. Accordingly, we can expect fairly widespread rain over North Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal.

The cyclonic circulation is also persisting over East Uttar Pradesh. It will bring good showers over east Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and parts of Uttar Pradesh.

The cyclonic circulation over Gangetic West Bengal will gradually intensify into a low pressure area. It will shift in the Northwest direction and bring rain over Odisha and West Bengal. Eid in Kolkata is an all-inclusive affair. People from other faiths and beliefs also take part in the celebrations. Intermittent rain and thundershowers could hamper celebrations here.

The offshore trough along the West Coast is gaining strength. It is likely to bring good showers right from Kerala to coastal parts of Maharashtra.

In view of rain, temperatures will come down to normal levels in most parts of the country
