27 July, 2015 Monsoon Update: Skymet Weather

July 26, 2015 6:40 PM |

The countrywide cumulative rainfall deficiency remains stagnant at 6%. But, heavy rain continues in Central India.

The Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir will bring scattered rainfall activity in entire North India. Delhi and adjoining areas will have partly cloudy skies. Thundery activity with light rain cannot be ruled out.

The Monsoon trough will extend from Bikaner in Rajasthan up to the center of the depression in the Bay of Bengal. It will bring rainfall all along the trough line across the North Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal. Tomorrow we could expect good showers in Bikaner, Jaipur, Ajmer, Bundi, Kota, Guna, Bhopal and Kolkata.

The well-marked low pressure area over East Rajasthan and adjoining areas could intensify into a depression very soon. Southwest Monsoon will remain vigorous in this part of the country. The system will continue to bring heavy showers in South and Southeast Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh and Kutch region in Gujarat.

The weather system over North Bay of Bengal has intensified into a depression. Consequently, heavy to moderate Monsoon showers likely over North coastal parts of Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal. Jharkhand, North Chhattisgarh, rest of West Bengal and Northeast India will receive light to moderate rainfall.

The offshore trough will be active all along the West Coast. It could bring heavy showers from Kerala to Konkan & Goa. Light rainfall likely in Coastal Maharashtra.

Maximums will be way below normal in Central India. But, day temperatures will be above normal at few places over North Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema and West Rajasthan.
In rest of the country we expect temperatures to remain near normal levels.
