Flood threat looms large over states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar as active to vigorous Monsoon conditions lash the regions with heavy rains. In addition, the heavy showers over Nepal have also increased the threat of flood.
Heavy to extremely heavy rains are expected to continue over most parts of Nepal along with Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. And when Nepal receives heavy rains, water flows down to Indian region of North Uttar Pradesh as well as adjoining Bihar, flooding the encachments of rivers in the both the regions.
Places like Lakhimpur Kheri, Maharajganj, Bahraich, Sitapur, Gonda in Uttar Pradesh are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rains. In the meantime, northern districts of Bihar such as east and West Champaran, Sitamarhi and Madhubani will record heavy rains.

According to Skymet Weather, the axis of Monsoon trough is presently running close to the foothills of Himalayas right from North Punjab to East Assam. Owing to this, we expect heavy to extremely heavy rains over northern districts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and over many places of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

The heavy to very heavy rains over Assam will further intensify the current flood fury over the state. In fact, heavy rains are likely to continue over northeastern states till August 13.
In Assam more than 65,000 people in eight districts have been affected by the latest flood spell. As per ASDMA 2,231 hectares of cropland have been inundated. Flooding rains will soon shift to Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
