Monsoon Forecast for Aug 25, 2017: Rain in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, Uttarakhand

Southwest Monsoon remained vigorous over Uttar Pradesh, a few parts of Bihar and North Tamil Nadu. Active Monsoon conditions were observed over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, South and East Rajasthan, Coastal Karnataka and Konkan & Goa region. The remaining parts of the country observed light rains.

Major rain contribution came from Nahan that recorded 92 mm of rainfall, followed by Silchar 87 mm and Diamond Harbour 69 mm.

As on August 23, the cumulative countrywide rainfall remains deficient by 6%. As far as the regional distribution is concerned, Northwest India, Central and South India are rain deficient by 3%, 9% and 13%, respectively. Whereas, East and North East India are normal by 1%.

At present, the axis of monsoon trough is passing through Bikaner, Narnaul, Agra, Varanasi, Jamshedpur, Balasore and then towards southeastwards up to Northeast Bay of Bengal.

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon will remain vigorous over Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Konkan & Goa region Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka.

Active Monsoon conditions are likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, South Gujarat, Southeast Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram and Manipur.

Normal Monsoon conditions are expected over Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu and remaining parts of northeastern states.
