Monsoon Forecast for Jul 24, 2017: Heavy Monsoon rains in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra

Vigorous Monsoon prevailed over many parts of Gujarat, South Rajasthan, Southwest Madhya Pradesh, South Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and few parts of Southeast Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, active to normal Monsoon conditions were seen over Western Himalayas, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Northeast India, South Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, Saurashtra and Kutch, Konkan and Goa.

Major contribution came from Bankura that recorded 274 mm of rain in the past 24 hours, followed by Mount Abu at 141 mm and Contai at 139 mm.

As on July 22, the cumulative rainfall for the country continues to be normal at 3%. At present, Northwest India is surplus by 15% Central India by 11%. Whereas South India is deficit by 7%, East and Northeast India is still deficient by 11%.

The axis of Monsoon trough is seen passing through Jaisalmer, Center of Low’s, East Rajasthan, Siddhi, Bankura, Canning and is moving east southeastwards towards the Northeast Bay of Bengal.

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon is likely to remain vigorous over Gujarat adjoining parts of Maharashtra, South Rajasthan, Southwest Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, South Jharkhand, Southwest Bihar, Southeast Uttar Pradesh, and a few parts of Uttarakhand.

Meanwhile, Active Monsoon conditions are likely over Western Himalayas, Northeast India, North Odisha and Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra and Kutch along with West Coast.

Subdued Monsoon conditions are likely over Tamil Nadu, South Kerala, Rayalaseema, Interior Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, South Punjab, North Rajasthan and West Haryana.
