Monsoon Forecast for Jul 27, 2017: Heavy rains in Ranchi, Ahmedabad, Varanasi, Raipur

Southwest Monsoon was vigorous over Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and parts of South Rajasthan, while active Monsoon was observed over Southeast Uttar Pradesh, northeast parts of Madhya Pradesh as well as North Chhattisgarh. Meanwhile, Normal Monsoon conditions were witnessed over Vidarbha, southwest parts of Madhya Pradesh, North Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.

Major contribution came from Mount Abu wherein a whopping 324 mm of rain was recorded in the past 24 hours, followed by Ranchi at 206 mm, Daltonganj 125 mm and Bankura 117mm.

As on July 25, the cumulative countrywide rainfall is surplus by 5%. As far as the regional distribution is concerned, Northwest India is surplus by 20%, while South Peninsula is deficient by 12%.

Presently, the axis of Monsoon trough is extending from the low pressure area over Southwest Rajasthan, Gwalior, Daltonganj, centre of well-marked low pressure area over Jharkhand and thence towards Tripura up to Bay of Bengal.

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon is likely to remain vigorous over Jharkhand and adjoining North Chhattisgarh. Meanwhile, North Odisha, central parts of Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, Southeast Uttar Pradesh, North Gujarat and South Rajasthan will witness active Monsoon. Normal Monsoon conditions are anticipated over parts of Konkan and Goa, Vidarbha, Northeast Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, northeastern states, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
