Monsoon Forecast for Jun 14, 2017: Monsoon rains to continue over Mumbai, Hyderabad

Southwest Monsoon remained vigorous over Konkan and Goa, Coastal Karnataka, parts of Northeast India and parts of North Coastal Kerala. It was active over Lakshadweep, Kerala, Madhya Maharashtra, parts of Marathwada and Telangana.

Normal Monsoon conditions were observed over South Interior Karnataka, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Monsoon remained weak over Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema, Coastal Odisha, Ganegtic West Bengal, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal.

Major contributors were Meghalaya, Coastal Maharashtra, Coastal Karnataka and few parts of Kerala. Cherrapunji received 318 mm of rain while Bhira in Maharashtra recorded 150 mm rainfall.

Country continued with excess Monsoon rains with seasonal rainfall being surplus by 18 percent on June 12. Meanwhile, during the last 24 hours country received 21 percent surplus rain. Presently, South Peninsula is surplus by 29 percent, Central India by 40 percent. The only deficient is East and Northeast India at -12 percent.

The northern limit of Monsoon continues to pass through Valsad, Nashik, Adilabad, Digha, Kolkata and Krishnanagar.

During the next 24 hours, good monsoon rains are expected over entire West Coast right from Konkan and Goa including Mumbai up to Kerala. Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Telangana and Coastal Andhra will also receive light to moderate rains.

Rain activity over Northeast India will increase and Monsoon will remain vigorous over most parts for at least next 24 hours.
