Monsoon Forecast for Jun 22, 2017: Good Monsoon rains in Jamshedpur, Assam; to reduce over Maharashtra, Telangana

Southwest Monsoon was vigorous over most parts of Odisha, while it was active over Kerala and Coastal Karnataka. Normal Monsoon conditions were observed over Konkan and Goa, Vidarbha, Telangana and most parts of Northeast India during the last 24 hours.

Major contribution came from Gopalpur that recorded 84 mm of rainfall in past 24 hours, followed by Sambalpur at 83 mm and Bhawanipatna 76 mm.

The countrywide cumulative rainfall has further decreased and now stands at 4% as on June 20. Presently, South Peninsula is surplus by 15%. The deficient region includes East and Northeast India at -2% and Central India -2%.

The northern limit of Monsoon is now passing through Valsad, Nashik, Buldana, Jharsugda, Jamshedpur and Bhagalpur.

During the next 24 hours, active Monsoon conditions are possible over East Bihar, Jharkhand, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, most parts of northeastern states and Coastal Karnataka.

While normal Monsoon rains are possible over Konkan & Goa, Kerala, South Chhattisgarh and Odisha.

Monsoon is likely to remain weak over Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

Now, the Monsoon is expected to advance further into some more parts of Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, remaining parts of Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, some parts of East Madhya Pradesh and East Uttar Pradesh during next 48 hours.
