Monsoon Forecast for Jun 23, 2017: Good Monsoon rains in Goa, Ratnagiri, Mangalore, Kolkata

Southwest Monsoon was vigorous over isolated parts of Odisha and sub-Himalayan West Bengal, while it was active along the West Coast, most parts of Odisha, Chhattisgarh and northeastern states.

Normal Monsoon conditions were also observed along the coast of Andhra Pradesh and Vidarbha during the last 24 hours.

Major contribution came from Cherrapunji that recorded 245 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours, followed by Cooch Behar at 140 mm and Purulia 78 mm.

The countrywide cumulative rainfall has further decreased and now stands at 4% as on June 20. Presently, South Peninsula is surplus by 12% and Northwest India 30%. The deficient region includes Central India and East and Northeast India at -2%.

The northern limit of Monsoon is now passing through Valsad, Nashik, Buldana, Raipur, Daltonganj and Supaul.

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon is likely to enhance along the West Coast including Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala.

Active Monsoon conditions are possible over Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Vidarbha, West Bengal and northeastern states.

While normal Monsoon rains are possible over Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and parts of Marathwada. Monsoon is likely to remain weak over Tamil Nadu, Interior Karnataka and Madhya Maharashtra.

Now, the Monsoon is expected to advance further into some more parts of Vidarbha, remaining parts of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Bihar, some parts of East Madhya Pradesh and East Uttar Pradesh during the next 48 hours.
