Monsoon Forecast for Jun 28, 2017: Heavy Monsoon rains in Mumbai, parts of Konkan and Goa

Southwest Monsoon remained vigorous over Konkan and Goa and the Kerala coast. Active Monsoon conditions were observed over Coastal Karnataka and Coastal Gujarat along with Vidarbha. Meanwhile, Monsoon remained subdued over Saurashtra and Kutch region, Southwest Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rayalaseema, Interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Major contribution came from Harnai where 177 mm rain was observed followed by Mahabaleshwar at 167 mm, and Bhira at 96 mm.

During the last 24 hours, country witnessed 8 percent less rainfall. With this, the countrywide rainfall continues to stand at -1 percent. As far as the regional distribution is concerned, Northwest and South India are surplus by 23 and 9 percent. Whereas, East Northeast and Central India are deficient by 13 percent and 3 percent.

The Northern Limit of Monsoon is currently passing through Naliya, Idar, Shajapur, Sagar and Patna. Southwest Monsoon is expected to cover some more parts of Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and may extend up to eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh during the next 24 hours.

Monsoon will remain active to vigorous over Konkan and Goa in the coming 24 hours. Mumbai is expected to continue receiving heavy rains. South Gujarat, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Vidarbha will witness active Monsoon. On the other hand, Monsoon rains will remain subdued over Madhya Maharashtra, Rayalaseema, Interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Normal Monsoon conditions are likely over rest of India.
