April 19, 2015 5:49 PM |

Peak of Summer descending upon North and Central India. In a couple of days, day temperature will touch the 40 degree mark in Delhi and adjoining areas.
Western Disturbances have finally started weakening and shifting towards the upper latitudes. At present a very feeble system is affecting Jammu and Kashmir, but will not be strong enough to affect the plains.

But we cannot rule out thunderstorm and light rain over Punjab, Haryana and Delhi on Sunday night. Temperatures will not be affected much. Rajasthan and Gujrat are the hottest states at present.
There will no relief from the heat in Barmer, Kota, Ahmedabad, Amreli, and many other places. According to Skymet, temperatures will only rise now and chances of severe dust storm at a couple of places cannot be ruled out.

Maximums are still near normal across Punjab and Haryana, but the mercury will gradually rise from now onwards. Hot and dry westerly winds coming from Pakistan and Rajasthan will make matters worse in the coming days.

On the other hand, splendour of Northeast India seems to be increasing by the day. This region has been receiving good showers. Thanks, to the cyclonic circulation over Assam and Meghalaya. Good showers likely to continue here for next 3 days.
In southern part of the country, we can see that the easterly wave is shifting towards Kerala. Consequently, pre-monsoon showers will reduce over Tamil Nadu and increase over Kerala.
