Weather Forecast Feb 26: Rain in Kolkata, Delhi, Chandigarh, Srinagar likely

To begin with North India, a fresh Western Disturbance is approaching the Western Himalayan and currently lies over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. The cyclonic circulation lies over North Haryana and Punjab. Another cyclonic circulation has developed over central parts of Rajasthan in the lower levels. Due to these systems, scattered light rain and snow with few moderate showers will continue in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Rain and thundershowers with cloudy sky are expected over Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh including Delhi and Chandigarh. Hailstorm may also occur in parts of Northwest India.

In Central India, a Trough is extending across North Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Therefore, isolated rain and thundershowers will occur over parts of these states. In fact, few places in the Gujarat’s Kutch region may also receive rains. Temperatures will rise in many parts of Central India.

Moving to East/Northeast India, in the wake of the above Trough, West Bengal, Jharkhand along with few parts of Odisha and Bihar will receive rain and thundershower activities. West Bengal, Jharkhand and North Odisha may also experience moderate spells and squall. Cities of Kolkata, Ranchi and others will be the ones seeing rains. Due to the cyclonic circulation over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, many areas of the northeastern states will witness light to moderate rains.

Lastly in South India, the trough is running from Telangana to Coastal Karnataka. Mainly warm and humid weather will prevail over south peninsula. Temperatures may drop in parts of Rayalaseema, Karnataka and Telangana.
