Weather Forecast for Aug 12: Rain in Lucknow, Patna, Kolkata; floods in Assam, UP, Bihar

The Western Disturbance is seen moving away eastwards. A cyclonic circulation persists over Central Pakistan and a trough is also running along the foothills of Himalayas. Due to this, light rains will occur over Jammu and Kashmir, while Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may record light to moderate rains. Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rains are possible over west and Central Uttar Pradesh. The rain intensity is likely to be more over northern districts of the state. North Punjab may record isolated activity. The weather over Delhi, Haryana and North Rajasthan is expected to remain dry.

Moving to East & Northeast side, heavy to very heavy rains will continue over East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya, while light to moderate rains are possible over Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, parts of Odisha and remaining northeastern states.

Coming to Central region, the intensity of rains will now reduce but scattered rains will occur over North Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. Isolated rain is also expected over Vidarbha and Marathwada.

Down South, a trough is extending from Telangana up to South Tamil Nadu. With this, scattered rains are expected over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka. Meanwhile, Konkan and Goa may record light to moderate rains.

Talking about major cities of India, Lucknow, Patna and Kolkata may witness good rainy spells. While, Bengaluru and Mumbai will see light rains.
