Weather Forecast for December 11: Chennai, Tamil Nadu likely to get light rain

December 10, 2015 6:12 PM |

Northeast Monsoon has taken back seat with rain reducing substantially over Peninsular India. Rain activity is now confined to extreme southern parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

A feeble trough is extending from the Comorin region up to Coastal Andhra Pradesh off Tamil Nadu coast. Accordingly, it will give light showers along the coast line.

Weather will now go dry over Chennai. However passing showers of very short duration cannot be ruled out.
Another trough is running from Maldives region up to Coastal Karnataka, off the Kerala and Karnataka coast. The system will also bring light rain over the respective regions on Friday.

Moreover, parts of North Interior Karnataka and Maharashtra may also get isolated light showers under the influence of the trough.

Moving up in the hills, an active western Disturbance is presently marked over Jammu and Kashmir. This will bring rain and snow over the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh on Friday. While, middle and lower reaches of the hilly states will get fairly widespread light to moderate rain.

An induced cyclonic circulation from this system is seen over Punjab and adjoining Haryana. Both the systems combined together are likely to give rain over parts of Punjab and Haryana. Delhi might also see some isolated light rain on Friday.

The passage of Western Disturbance is also likely to drop minimum temperatures across the plains and increase in fog activity.
Meanwhile in Northeast India, another cyclonic circulation is seen over Arunachal Pradesh and adjoining Assam region that will give isolated light rain activity over both the states.

While, Central and West India will continue with dry and pleasant weather conditions.
