Weather Forecast for Jun 23: Monsoon reaches Patna, MP; Light rain in Mumbai, Kolkata

Southwest Monsoon has progressed further and has now reached East Madhya Pradesh. It has also covered remaining parts of Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand and more parts of Vidarbha and Bihar. NLM is now running from Valsad, Nashik, Nagpur, Balaghat or Mandla and Patna.

Monsoon is all set to gather pace along the West Coast, with the off shore trough once again getting activated. It can be now seen running from Konkan & Goa till Kerala.

With this, heavy Monsoon rains will return to rain deficit Kerala. Moderate to heavy showers are also likely over South Coastal Maharashtra, Goa and Coastal Karnataka during the next 24 hours.

Light showers could also be seen over parts of South Gujarat.

Meanwhile, Monsoon will remain subdued over Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh which will record light showers only.

Up in East India, an east-west trough can be seen running East Uttar Pradesh till Northeast India, with a cyclonic circulation embedded over it over East Bihar.

With this, scattered good rains with isolated heavy showers are likely over foothills of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, Sikkim, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.
Remaining northeastern states, Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh wills settle with light showers only.

Another trough is running from this circulation till North Bay of Bengal along the East Coast. With this, moderate rains with isolated heavy could be seen over Odisha and South Chhattisgarh. While, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal including Kolkata may see light Monsoon rains only.

Meanwhile in absence of any significant weather system over Central India, rains will reduce and only isolated light rains are likely over Madhya Pradesh, North Chhattisgarh and Interior Maharashtra.

Live status of Lightning and thunderlightning-in-bengaluru

Up in North India, the affecting Western Disturbance and its induced cyclonic circulation has become insignificant. With this mainly dry weather will prevail over entire Northwest India including both hills and plains.

However, with presence of humidity in atmosphere, one or two spells of light rains cannot be ruled out.
