The low pressure area has moved further westward and can be marked close to South Sri Lanka Coast. Weathermen expect this system to keep moving in west-northwest direction.

A trough is seen extending from Southeast Arabian Sea to this system across South of Kerala. Thus, light rain and thundershowers are likely to commence along the coast of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Isolated moderate spells are also possible over the region. Rains may intensify in the next 24 hours. Chennai will also start witnessing light showers which will intensify further.

Meanwhile, isolated places of South Andhra Pradesh and South Karnataka may witness light rain and thundershowers. Mainly dry weather will prevail over rest of Karnataka and Telangana.

Coming to Central region, a ridge is seen moving across Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. In wake of dry and cool winds prevailing over the region, minimum temperatures will further drop.

Talking about weather in East and Northeast, maximum temperatures will remain below the normal at many parts, while minimums will drop further over the region. Cold wave conditions will prevail over Jharkhand.

Northeast states may witness moderate fog at many places and the weather will remain mainly dry.

Up in North, a Western Disturbance is seen moving over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. Thus, rain and snow is expected over higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir. Sky will be partly cloudy over many parts. Minimum temperatures will rise over Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining North Punjab.

Cold wave type conditions are likely to prevail over North Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab and adjoining Northwest Uttar Pradesh. Shallow fog may occur in parts.
