October 8, 2018 7:28 PM |

Cyclone Luban continues to get more marked and is likely to intensify into severe cyclone in the next 24 hours. Chances are bright that it may further intensify into a very severe cyclone in subsequent 48 to 72 hours. The system would continue to move in northwest direction towards the Yemen Coast and moving far away from the Indian coast.

Hence, the rainfall would start reducing over Southern Peninsula, and only light to moderate showers are likely over Kerala and southern and interior districts of Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile, scattered rains are possible in coastal and south interior parts of Karnataka including Bengaluru. Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands would too see some good rains.

Moving onto eastern side, the depression over Central Bay of Bengal may intensify into a deep depression soon. This system will move in northwest direction towards the Indian coast. With this, scattered rains will commence over Coastal Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal. Kolkata would too see light showers during the next 24 hours. Gradually, the intensity of showers will increase over these regions.

Meanwhile, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura will witness some showers. Weather of East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand would remain dry.

Finally up North, a Western Disturbance is over North Pakistan and its induced cyclonic circulation is over Central Pakistan. Hence, scattered rains with isolated snowfall activity are expected in Jammu and Kashmir. Himachal Pradesh would too see light showers at isolated places.

North Punjab may also see light rains, while thundershowers are likely over North Rajasthan and parts of Haryana. Meanwhile, weather of Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh and Delhi would remain dry.
