Weather Forecast July 21: Red alert in Kerala, heavy rains continue to lash parts of Coastal Karnataka

Southwest Monsoon 2019 has rapidly gained momentum over South Peninsula and is affecting the parts of Kerala and Coastal Karnataka. At present a Cyclonic Circulation is over Northwest Bay of Bengal off South Odisha coast. Hence, Andhra Pradesh will receive light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many places and Telangana will see these rains over scattered areas.

Simultaneously, an off-shore Trough is persisting over Kerala and Karnataka in association with a Cyclonic Circulation. Thus, the coastal parts of Karnataka and Kerala will receive heavy to very heavy rains at many places. While interior parts of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu might see light to moderate rains. Places like Karwar, Honavar, Shirali, Mangaluru, Kasargod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Kochi, Thrissur, Karipur, Kollam, and Thiruvananthapuram will be impacted by these Monsoon rains.

The southern parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands is also likely to record heavy to very heavy rains. whereas northern parts to record moderate rains.In wake of Cyclonic Circulation over North Madhya Maharashtra and Southern parts of Madhya Pradesh, the southern parts of Madhya Pradesh, North Maharashtra, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh will see light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many places.

Meanwhile in presence of an upper air Cyclonic Circulation over Bay of Bengal, Odisha will witness light to moderate rain and thundershowers over scattered places. Dry and very warm weather will continue over most parts of Bihar, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal. However, due to incursion of moist winds from the Bay of Bengal and presence of Western Disturbance over Tibet, moderate to heavy rains is a possibility over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, and northeast parts of Bihar. Whereas, other parts of Northeast states will see light to moderate rain at scattered places.

Moving up in the North, the feeble Western Disturbance is moving across eastern parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Due to the presence of this system, light to moderate rains will be seen of Jammu and Kashmir and at many places of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.The Cyclonic Circulation lies over Central Pakistan and adjoining parts of Punjab. Due to this system, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi might see light spell of rain and thundershowers in association with Western Disturbance. Dry and very warm weather will be seen over Uttar Pradesh with isolated rains over North Uttar Pradesh in wake of moist winds coming from the Bay of Bengal.

Another weather system that is the axis of Monsoon Trough which is passing through the Northern parts of Rajasthan will give light rain at scattered places of the state.
