Weather Forecast June 15: Cyclone Vayu continues to give more rains in Gujarat, Delhi, and Haryana to witness dust storm and rain

June 14, 2019 8:07 PM |

After being stagnant for almost a week, the Southwest Monsoon 2019 has further advanced into Mangalore, Mysore, Salem, Cuddalore, Agartala, Lumding and Passighat. The Monsoon 2019 is still running behind scheduled.

Cyclone Vayu is now moving away westwards, but its impact will be seen over Gujarat and light to moderate rains will continue in the coastal areas right from Mahuva to Dwarka including Veraval, Amreli, Somnath, Junagadh, and Porbandar. Light to moderate rain with one or two intense spells are also expected over Konkan and Goa. Mumbai too would witness one or two good spells. The humid winds from the Arabian Sea with high temperatures would result in dust storms and thundershowers in West Madhya Pradesh and a few places in Chhattisgarh. With this, isolated rains are expected over, East Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, and Vidarbha. Temperatures might drop by a couple of degrees in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

Monsoon has advanced to some more parts of Northeast India covering Lumding in Assam, Agartala in Tripura and Passighat in Arunachal Pradesh. In East and Northeast India, a trough is extending from Punjab up to Coastal Odisha across Bihar and Gangetic West Bengal. Humid winds from the Bay of Bengal are feeding moisture to Northeast India. Rain is expected to increase in Northeast India. We expect moderate rains with one or two heavy spells in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim as well. Coastal Odisha might witness few moderate spells while light rains are a possibility in interior parts of Odisha and East Bihar.

Up in North, in the wake of a fresh Western Disturbance, scattered rains are possible over Jammu and Kashmir with isolated over Himachal Pradesh. Also, isolated dust storm and thundershower is a possibility in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR and Rajasthan. With this, day temperatures are likely to drop by a couple of degrees over the Northwest Plains.

Down South, an off-shore trough is persisting from Karnataka up to Kerala coast. Thus, light to moderate rain with one or two heavy spells might occur over Coastal Karnataka and Kerala with isolated rains over Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Bengaluru will witness dry weather while isolated thundery activities can be a sight in Hyderabad and Chennai. Andaman and Nicobar Islands would continue to witness good Monsoon rain and thundershowers.
