Weather Forecast March 7: Rain in Srinagar, Kolkata, Balasore; Rayalaseema, TN continue to witness hot weather

Beginning with North, a fresh Western Disturbance is approaching Western Himalayas which would induce a Cyclonic Circulation over western parts of Rajasthan. Thus, scattered rain and thundershower activities over parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh could be witnessed. Isolated snowfall might occur in the upper reaches of the hills. Jammu, Srinagar, Qazigund and Banihal might witness light rainfall activity.

Isolated rains are also a possible over western parts of Punjab, North and West Rajasthan. Bhatinda, Fazlika, Sri Ganganagar, Churu and Bikaner might witness isolated rains. Weather of Haryana, Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh would be dry. Minimums are expected to increase marginally over Rajasthan, parts of Punjab and Haryana.

In East, a trough is seen extending from West Assam to Gangetic West Bengal. Thus, we expect isolated rains over Gangetic West Bengal and coastal parts of Odisha. Scattered rains will be witnessed over northeastern states. Places like Kolkata, 24 Parganas, Balasore, Baripada and Bhadrak would be a witness to these weather activities. Weather in East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand will be dry. Due to the blowing of northwesterlies over these states, minimums are expected to drop by a degree or two.

There is no significant weather system affecting the central parts of the country. Humid winds from southwest are blowing across Gujarat, West Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. Thus, we can expect marginal rise in minimums over these areas with dry weather.

Down South, a trough is seen extending from Andhra Pradesh up to Interior Tamil Nadu. Thus, we expect isolated light rains over parts of Tamil Nadu and Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Heatwave conditions are expected to continue over parts of Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu. Also, there are chances that the mercury might touch 40°C mark over these areas. Experts say that the maximums over most of the places in Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu will remain above normal by 4°C-5°C.
