Pakistan Weather: Rain in Islamabad, Peshawar, Rawalpindi; fog in Lahore, Faisalabad

Rainfall activity has been lashing many parts of Pakistan during the last 48 hours or so. So much so that heavy rains have also been witnessed in many parts of the nation. The last 24 hours were also quite similar for Pakistan with good rains making appearances over many parts of the country.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Peshawar recorded a whopping 60 mm of rains followed by 49 mm of rain in Cherat. Other parts of the country to have recorded good rains include Bannu 43 mm, Risalpur 42 mm, Kohat 27 mm, Lower Dir 17 mm, Kakul 15 mm, Murree 13 mm, Islamabad 11 mm, Rawalpindi 12 mm, and Rawalakot 12 mm.

These rainfall activities are attributed to the presence of a Western Disturbance which is currently over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir region. Along with this, an induced cyclonic circulation is over Punjab and adjoining Pakistan. The combined effects of these systems have given rains over many areas of the nation.

Now, as per weathermen at Skymet, in view of these weather features, the northern parts of Pakistan are expected to witness light to moderate rainfall activity including Malakand, Hazara and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Isolated pockets of Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Kohat, Peshawar, Islamabad may witness some rains as well. In fact, the higher reaches of North Pakistan are also expected to witness snowfall as well during the next 24 hours.

The southern parts of the country will remain dry during this period. The plains may witness foggy conditions during the same time period including cities of Lahore, Faisalabad and a few others.
