February 24, 2016 2:50 PM |

InsideIn the opening match of the Asia Cup 2016, India will face Bangladesh in the Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. The dark clouds hover over Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s availability in the opening match; he suffered muscle spasm in one of the practice session on Sunday. In the meantime the men in blue will be steered into the campaign by Virat Kohli. And behind the gloves there is talented Parthiv Patel.

The tournament officially marks the comeback of Yuvraj Singh. For his critiques condemning his selection for the Asia Cup, he made Rs.37 Cr in the last three IPL and won the final T20 match in the recent encounter against Sri Lanka.

Tigers (Bangladesh) have gained the reputation of being the giant exterminators especially when it comes to entertaining their home crowd so the match will be. Last year, Dhoni and his men suffered a series loss against Bangladesh, so the priority of Indian Cricket Team will be to avenge the same.

Indian batting is strong among the likes of Virat Kolhi, Suresh Raina Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Shrama. In the lower order is taken care by Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya and R.Ashwin. Bowling is one aspect where it will be interesting to see experience of Ashish Nehra & youngster Jasprit Bumrah play together.

This opening match gives the perfect platform for the team to prepare themselves for the big clash vs. Pakistan.

Weather wise, Dhaka may experience some rainfall which will affect the playing conditions. Today morning the city experienced some light showers and thunderstorm. Some rainfall activity is expected around 7 pm, when the game will start. So the game is expected to start a little late or a shorter version of T20 is expected.
