Dense fog in Delhi to reappear in the morning

December 16, 2013 12:32 PM |

Dense fog that led to a drop in visibility at many places in North India during early morning today, including the capital Delhi, might get better tomorrow evening as wind conditions will change during the next 24 to 48 hours. Nonetheless, NCR might witness some fog tonight and dense fog tomorrow morning. The approach of moist southeasterly winds has led to the intensification of fog in Delhi and the rest of North India.

The southeasterly winds generally travel up to North India due to the presence of a Western Disturbance in the Western Himalayan region which obstruct the northerly winds and give way to moist winds from the Bay of Bengal.

These winds are currently affecting major parts of North India leading to fog in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand during night and morning hours.

There is a possibility of another Western Disturbance over Jammu & Kashmir from Wednesday onwards which might again repeat the process thus dense fog could make a comeback.

Fog intensified due to rise in the relative humidity, low morning temperatures around 10 degrees and mild winds blowing at a speed of 5 to 15 kmph.
