May 17, 2019 10:16 AM |

Located at a height of 1600 m above sea level Tirthan is a offbeat paradise for travelers looking for out of the league, less traveled yet perfect destination in the countryside.

Located in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, this place is something not to be missed if you are a travel junkie or have a knack for mountains.

Striking a perfect balance between peace and adventure, this place is located snugly amidst the valley of Tirthan river and this is where the place derives its name from.

Tirthan has something for everyone- a quiet valley ideal for trekking, fishing, wildlife watching, and discovering under-explored hill villages. There’s also the option of doing absolutely nothing as you relax among the pine trees in the valley, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Now let’s give you a sneak-peek into the weather outlook if you are planning to travel to the valley-

Summer (April - June)

This probably is the best time to explore the region. The temperature ranges between 10°C to 25°C keeping the weather pleasant and perfect to escape the scorching heat of the rest of the country is bearing. This time around is also perfect for adventure buffs as there are several adventure activities including trekking, hiking, paragliding, camping, horse-riding, fishing, boating and zorbing.

Spring (March - April)

Spring is probably the most beautiful season here, although a bit cold after the harsh winters. The waterfalls are filed with water and there’s flowers blooming everywhere. The sky is mostly clear and the weather is pleasant. The temperature hovers between 8°C and 16°C, so the days are pleasantly cool while the nights are cold and chilly.

Winter (November - February)

This is a little harsh season and is usually preferred by offbeat travelers who wish to experience the beautiful surrounding covered in snow. The temperature in the region hovers between 7°C and 18°C at the beginning of the season but as it progresses, the region receives snowfall, and the mercury level drops further down to 1°C.

Places to be and things to do at Tirthan

The place is probably the best cave for people looking for some exotic homestays and lodges. Enjoy the cloud kissed mountain view, lie down at the river side under the sun or just campfire under the star lit sky. This is exactly what you have been looking for!

Take a trek to the breathtaking Serolsar Lake. There is also a tiny temple devoted to Goddess Buddhi Nagin, which will give you a glimpse of the culture and the age-old architecture.

An uphill hike from the Rolla village will take you to a waterfall hidden in the forested valley.

We suppose you are already convinced for a trip to this tiny yet magnificent place by now. It’s time you don’t follow a defined track and travel to an untrodden path while you can leave a trail.
