Rain in Maharashtra

Active Monsoon surge would result in good rains in Vidarbha, Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa meteorological divisions of Maharashtra today and tomorrow.

Heavy rains continued in many parts of Konkan and Goa including Mumbai and suburbs during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the Vidarbha meteorological division of Maharashtra observed moderate rains with one or two heavy spells. The city of Nagpur received good rains.

In a span of 24 hours, from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Colaba in Mumbai has recorded 122 mm of rainfall, followed by Harnai 115.4 mm, Alibag 93.3 mm and Nagpur 28.3 mm.

According to the Weathermen at Skymet, rains would continue in Konkan and Goa including Mumbai with good intensity. Moderate rains with some heavy spells are likely for another 24 hours in Mumbai, Thane, Dahanu, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, and Alibag.

A similar condition is likely in parts of Madhya Maharashtra such as Mahabaleshwar. However, Pune, Nashik, and Malegaon would experience light rains only with isolated moderate spells.

Meanwhile, rains would occur with moderate intensity in Vidarbha for another two to three days. The patchy rains would make the weather comfortable for the residents.

The meteorological division of Marathwada also stands a chance to experience good spells of rain during the next 48 hours.

These rains can be attributed to the Cyclonic Circulation over the Gujarat region. In addition to this, a Low-Pressure Area is over Odisha and the adjoining area. This system has activated the Monsoon Surge along the West Coast. Moreover, a wind shear zone is extending from North Konkan and Goa up to Odisha about 3.6 km above the main sea level.
