Northeastern part of the country is one of the rainiest pockets during the pre-Monsoon season. In fact, Northeast India contributes a major amount of rainfall during the Southwest Monsoon season as well which arrives over the region during the second week of June.
Northeast India has been successfully able to retain its rainiest status as the region has been witnessing the good amount of rains during the month of May. On an off rains have seldom left the region dry. On the past day also, the rainy saga continued over Northeast India with light to moderate along with isolated heavy rains occurring over most parts of the state.
In the last 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Friday, Majbat recorded extremely heavy three-digit rains to the tune of 103 mm, Goalpara 36 mm, Tezpur 32 mm, North Lakhimpur 31 mm, Silchar 20 mm, Rangia 12 mm, Guwahati 11 mm, Pasighat 7 mm and Kailashahar witnessed 4 mm of light spells.

As per Skymet Weather, a trough is extending from North Bihar to Arunachal Pradesh across Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. An embedded cyclonic circulation lies over Arunachal Pradesh and East Assam. In addition to this, the Western Disturbance as an upper air system is also moving close to Arunachal Pradesh.
In the wake of the combination of all these weather systems, the northeastern states would continue to receive moderate rains along with few heavy spells for the next 48 hours. In addition to this, parts of Nagaland may also witness moderate rains.
