weather in Jaipur

Active to vigorous Southwest Monsoon has given heavy Monsoon rains to the tune of 164 mm in Jaipur during the last two days.

Until July 25, the pink city was rain deficient by 14%. However, heavy rains to the tune of 93 mm in the last 24 hours have changed the weather scenario, thus making it surplus with rains. In fact, heavy rain is still continuing and in the last three hours between 8:30 and 11:30 am, it has reported 76 mm of Monsoon rains.

The credit for these rains goes to the Cyclonic Circulation over Northwest Rajasthan. Also, the axis of the Monsoon Trough is extending from Northwest Rajasthan up to Northeast India.

As the above systems will persist for some more time, moderate to heavy rains will continue for another 24 hours. Thereafter, rains will taper over the city. Moreover, the conditions are favourable that the city will surpass its monthly rainfall target very soon.

According to weathermen at Skymet, another spell of rain is expected over east and central parts of Rajasthan including Jaipur around July 30 or 31. These rains with moderate intensity will then continue for the next two to three days.

Thus, we can say that the rainy spell will continue in Jaipur and adjoining areas until the first week of August. Some short breathers in between are likely.
