Pune Rains

Many places in Vidarbha are reeling under flood-like situation. Other cities in Maharashtra such as Gadchiroli too have experienced heavy Monsoon showers in the last few days. Waterlogging and flood-like situation have been prevailing in Nashik, while Pune has recorded unusually heavy rains in the month of July.

The state of Maharashtra has been divided into four regions namely Konkan and Goa which is the rainiest, followed by Vidarbha and Marathwada and lastly Madhya Maharashtra which receives the least rains.

The cities of Pune and Nashik fall in Madhya Maharashtra which are also the least rainy cities of the state. Here, the weather remains fairly pleasant during the Monsoon season with mainly light rains. Temperatures usually remain in the lower 30s throughout the day.

However, this Monson season has been quite different for the state with cities like Pune and Nashik receiving record rainfall. While Pune recorded a whopping 363.4 mm of rain during the month of July against the normal of 187.2 mm, the city of Nashik received 496.3 mm of rainfall which is almost three times the monthly normal of 156.1 mm.

With these figures, both the cities have broken the ten-year-old record for the month of July and become the rainiest places in Maharashtra at present.

This is not the first time that Nashik has received such heavy rains, the city has in fact been breaking July rainfall records for three consecutive years.

Talking about the forecast for the next 24 hours, Nashik and Pune are set to receive light to moderate rains, which will continue for a couple of days. The next week is, however, going to be a rainy one.
