The state of Gujarat has been witnessing near normal day temperatures for the past few days. Meanwhile, the minimum temperatures have been settling below normal over many parts of Gujarat region and near normal over both Kutch and Saurashtra.

At present, the region is enjoying warm and sunny days along with cool nights. In fact, the city of Ahmedabad has been observing below normal minimums by around 3 degrees. Today, the minimum temperature settled in the single digit range at 9.8 degrees Celsius.
Usually, by this time of the year, the weather starts warming up. However, this year, due to the continuous flow of northerly or northeasterly cool winds, temperatures have remained under check and weather continues to remain pleasant over most of the areas and slightly cold over isolated pockets.

Now, we do not expect much change in temperatures for another 24 to 48 hours. Thereafter, the minimum temperatures are expected to increase marginally due to the approach of a Western Disturbance. Thus, this system is likely to restrict the flow of cool winds over these areas but there will not be a significant rise in the temperatures.
However, again, around the first week of February, we expect day and night temperatures to fall leading to cool and pleasant conditions over the region. Thus, the region will continue to observe fluctuating temperatures which will remain under check throughout the week.
