Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Amreli, Baroda braces for dry weather

Since the last few days, Gujarat and adjoining areas have been reeling under dry weather conditions. As of now as well, rains are not likely to show up over the regions. These weather conditions will continue to persist over Gujarat and adjoining areas for the next three to four days. However, henceforth, good rains are possible to occur over most districts of Gujarat like Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Kandla, Baroda, and Amreli.

Gujarat has been receiving good rains during the month of June and July also started on a rainy note for most parts of the state. In fact, recently, Ahmedabad had recorded very hefty sum of 100 mm of rains. Though soon after, rains took a declining trend and the heavy rains were taken over by light spells. In the last 24 hours as well, parts of Gujarat witnessed isolated light rains.

Since the span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Ahmedabad recorded 5.7 mm of rainfall and Kandla 4.2 mm.

According to Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation is expected to form over Northwest Arabian Sea off Gujarat region. A trough may extend from this system up to another cyclonic circulation over West Madhya Pradesh. Due to these systems, the weather may remain dry over Gujarat until July 11.  Thereafter, the intensity of rains may pick up pace and rainfall activities are anticipated to increase marginally over entire Gujarat between July 12 and July 15.

As on July 6, the rain surplus of Gujarat region is 23% while the Saurashtra and Kutch region is 5% rainfall surplus.

Meanwhile, the weather is likely to remain almost dry over Gujarat and adjoining areas. These weather conditions will continue to remain same for the next two to four days.
