The city of Ahmedabad has witnessed good Monsoon showers throughout the month of July. Ever since Southwest Monsoon has made an onset over Ahmedabad, Monsoon showers have been lashing the city for good.
In fact, there also have been several occasions wherein the city has witnessed a few heavy spells of rain as well. The last 24 hours were also quite similar wherein heavy Monsoon showers made an appearance over the city giving Ahmedabad a taste of three-digit rains.
In fact, in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Ahmedabad recorded a whopping 109 mm of rainfall. Adjoining cities including Rajkot and others also witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall activity.
These weather conditions can be attributed to the presence of a low pressure area over Southeast Rajasthan and adjoining areas. Along with this, the off shore trough has also been persisting along the West Coast right from South Gujarat coast up to Kerala region.
Due to these weather features, moisture incursion has been taking place resulting in cloud development and rains.
So far, Ahmedabad has been able to record about 452.5 mm of rain against its monthly average of 291 mm. Thus, with seven days in July, Ahmedabad has already surpassed its monthly mean.
