Ample rains in the first fortnight of March about to break records in Punjab, Haryana and Delhi

March 9, 2020 3:10 PM |

Winter rains are limited to January and February in Punjab, Haryana and Delhi. However, the first fortnight of March also brings along some rains. Moreover, a few places in the first fortnight of March experience rains which are almost equivalent to that of January and February. Some places in Punjab and Haryana see even more rains. Delhi sees much lesser rains in March, if compared. Incursion of pre-Monsoon begins from the second half of March.

Moreover, this year the month has received much more rains than the average. One after the other active Western Disturbances can be attributed as the reason behind this. These rains were accompanied with extreme lightning, thunderstorms and hail.

In fact, most of the locations in Punjab and Haryana have already crossed the monthly rain figures in the first week of March itself.

We can infer that many of these places are inching towards record rainfall already. Moreover, Delhi has already received about four times the month’s normal rainfall.

Shortly, another spell is coming up for the region due to which some precipitation can be observed over Punjab and Haryana by tomorrow evening. This spell will be a prolonged one which will last until March 15. Places like Pathankot, Jalandhar, Chandigarh, Panchkula, Ambala and Yamunanagar can experience good rains on March 12 and 13.
