Rain in BangaloreAs reiterated by Skymet Weather, Bengaluru is all set to witness rain and thundershowers on Wednesday. Weather has already become conducive as sky is overcast with thick rain bearing clouds. Rains are likely to follow later in the day around late afternoon or evening.

According to weathermen, light rains with one or two moderate showers are expected to occur over the city of Bengaluru on Wednesday. Rains would continue on Thursday as well but with reduced intensity. Moreover, the possibility of very light passing showers on February 9 and 10 also cannot be ruled out.

Usually Bengaluru does not witness much rains during February and its average rainfall also stands at mere 5.4 mm. In fact, in the past three years, February has remained completely dry. The year 2014 also saw 0.2 mm rain only, during the month. However, it seems like this year, the jinx of no rain may be broken.

The region does not see much of weather systems affecting it during this time of year but any disturbances in the nearby region may give some rains.

Similar has been the scenario at present wherein a cyclonic circulation is seen over Southwest Bay of Bengal and a trough is extending from the same along the Coastal Tamil Nadu. Besides this, a trough is seen in the Arabian Sea running along the coast of Kerala and Karnataka. Thus, humid winds from either side of the coast have been reaching Bengaluru, creating favourable conditions for rain and thundershowers over the city.

However, afternoons had been warm as mercury was touching 31˚C -32˚C. In fact, Tuesday saw both the maximum and minimum temperatures settling above normal by at least two degrees.

With these approaching rains, people of Bengaluru would now enjoy pleasing weather conditions during the day time as mercury is likely to witness a dip. However, minimum temperatures would register a slight rise and are expected to continue settling above normal around 19˚C -20˚C.
