Bengaluru records half of its monthly rains in July; good showers to remain in hiding

July 31, 2017 6:10 PM |

Bengaluru Rain

Bengaluru rains have remained in hiding throughout the month of July. In fact, during the entire month of July, the garden city of India has not even witnessed one heavy spell of rains. So much so that until three to four days ago, double digit rains had not made an appearance over the capital city of Karnataka.

While rains were of moderate intensity two days ago, light showers once again replaced those good showers during the last 48 hours. In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Bengaluru recorded a mere 1 mm of rain.

Now, the off shore trough which was over the West Coast has weakened and the cyclonic circulation which is over South Andhra coast is also weakening gradually. Therefore, weather of Bengaluru will now become dry with occasional isolated light rains.

Temperatures will remain pleasant with maximums being in the lower 30s. In spite of almost dry weather conditions, weather will remain comfortable over Bengaluru. Also, we do not expect any activity until August 4.

Thereafter, rains are likely to increase marginally during the second half of the week but heavy to very heavy spells are ruled out during that time as well. In the month of July Bengaluru has witnessed a mere 60.6 mm of rainfall against its monthly average of 112.9 mm.
