Bhira bears brunt of summers, records highest maximum at 46.5 degrees

As the summer settles in the country, temperatures over most parts of the country has increased, especially parts of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Heatwave has become the common feature of weather as it spread its wings to cover more area.

Due to persistent blow of dry and hot winds from the north direction many regions of coastal Maharashtra are witnessing heatwave like conditions. And thanks to the hot weather, Bhira in Maharashtra witnessed its all-time highest maximum temperatures. In the span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Bhira recorded maximum temperature of 46.5°C.

It is uncommon for the region to experience such high temperatures around this time of the year. The maximums usually settle around higher 30°Cs. With mercury at 46.5°C, it is more than 7 degrees Celsius above normal for the city.

For the time being such high levels of mercury is expected to prevail over the region. And for next 2-3 days, such hot weather will prevail over the region. Post that, winds with moisture is expected to blow over the region from west direction, which is expected to bring down the temperatures by a few notches.

People are requested to take extra precautions during such heatwave. It is advisable to stay put during the afternoon hours. Great amounts of cool fluids must be taken to battle off the hot weather over the region.
