It has almost been a week where the city of Delhi has been facing a really bad weather situation due to the continuous presence of a thick layer of smog in air. Delhi has not seen such an adverse air quality in the past 17 years. Keeping that in mind the Centre has called the Delhi pollution crisis as an ‘emergency situation’.
Arvind Kejriwal has asked the Centre to intervene as to pull of steps to curb the current situation. Kejriwal met with Anil Dave, the Environment Minister on Saturday. "There is an emergency situation in Delhi. The situation is bad, particularly for children, patients, women and elderly. We need to take immediate steps to deal with the situation," Dave told reporters.
Dave expects to find a solution as he plans to meet with the environment ministers of neighboring states in order to curb the pollution levels. Delhi’s CM speaking to the reporters said that measures like the ‘odd-even’ rule will not be able to help the reduction of pollution levels in Delhi.
Dave said, "There are five reasons triggering air pollution that includes the use of firewood, coal, diesel, petrol and burning of agricultural waste. We have to find solution to address the problem.”
Dave continued, "We should imbibe self-discipline in our daily lifestyle. If I don't minimize use of my four cars and expect other people to use cycles, that should not be happen. We should collectively come under self-regulation."

Schools for the time being have been shut down as there was no point keeping the civic bodies open for a day in view of pollution.
