A low pressure area and the axis of monsoon trough are expected to give widespread moderate rain in central India, i.e. Madhya Pradesh, Vidharbha, Marathwada, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand for another 24 to 48hours, making it the coolest and wettest part of India with temperatures maintaining between 24 to 28 degrees for the entire month of July. Moderate rain is expected in parts of coastal Andhra and coastal Orissa as well with possibilities of good showers in Hyderabad and Bhuvaneshwar.
The axis of monsoon trough or the NLM (northern limit of the monsoon) is currently passing through Ganganagar, Haryana, Gwalior, Chhattisgarh, Jamshedpur and south Orissa.
Moreover, parts of south east Rajasthan and south Gujarat may also receive moderate showers with heavy in some pockets of Surat and Ahmedabad. Surat has already recorded 25mm of rain in the last 24hours whereas Kota in south Rajasthan recorded heavy rain of 46mm.
Meanwhile, Rain in central India will be widespread and may occur in the morning or towards the evening. This will only be a spell or two in the day. Commuters can therefore plan their day accordingly.
“This year monsoon has been very impressive in Madhya Pradesh. In east M.P, the normal rainfall figure for the month of July is 321mm whereas it has already rained up to 545mm. On the other hand, in west M.P, normal rainfall is 249mm and it has already recorded 499.8mm of rain. Rain is therefore in excess by about 40% in the state and will only rise”, says Mahesh Palawat, Head of the weather forecasting team at Skymet Weather.
“We are very happy with so much rain in our state this time but are also worried and hassled as water borne diseases have increased in the city and diarrhea has become common. Both my kids have fallen ill with food poisoning this season”, talks a homemaker and resident of Bhopal, Vrinda Desai.
Rain is expected to become light in central and south India after two to three days but we cannot expect the weather to be completely dry. Maximum temperature is expected to drop further by two degree Celsius.
