Winter chill in North IndiaWe have entered into the thick of winter season, with several parts of Northwest India reeling under cold wave conditions for last few days. In fact, these chilly weather conditions have now extended up to the parts of Central India as well.

Minimum temperatures have been dropping gradually in the plains and would continue to do so. According to Skymet Weather, in absence of any significant Western Disturbance, icy cold northwesterly winds have been blowing over the entire plains of northwestern and central region.

Although there has been series of Western Disturbances over Jammu and Kashmir but none of them was capable enough to impact the weather in terms of rain over the region. Thus, chilly winds from snow clad Himalayas have been blowing uninterruptedly that led to continuous drop in night temperatures.

In fact, parts of Rajasthan are under the grip of cold wave conditions. These conditions persist when night temperatures are below 10˚C and five degrees below the normal average.
