Continuous Monsoon rains in Delhi bring pleasant weather conditions

Delhi rainDelhiites have been witnessing scattered good spells of rainfall for the last couple of days.

In fact yesterday, Southwest Monsoon was active over Haryana and Chandigarh as well. West Rajasthan also witnessed vigorous Monsoon rains on Thursday.

During last 24 hours, the Safdarjung observatory received 5.4 mm of rainfall while the Palam observatory witnessed 4.2 mm. The Narela weather station also recorded 7 mm of rainfall in a span of 24 hours, from 8.30 am on Thursday.

The axis of the Monsoon trough can be seen moving across Delhi, from Punjab to Northeast Bay of Bengal. Moreover, the Western Disturbance is also moving across Jammu and Kashmir. These two weather systems will interact with each other to bring short rainy spells over Delhi and NCR, during next 24 to 48 hours.

Morning will be comfortable with slightly warm weather conditions and relatively less humidity levels. Northeasterly winds will be blowing over the national capital, keeping morning and evening hours quite pleasant.

Rainfall activity will be more during next 24 hours and slightly reduce thereafter. Day temperatures will not rise above 34 degree Celsius while minimums will hover around 26 degree Celsius.

In the plains of North India, Monsoon rain and thundershowers will continue over Punjab and Haryana during next 24 hours.

Delhi performed quite well, in terms of Monsoon rains, in the month of July. Delhi and NCR witnessed good rains this month as well. Nevertheless, the subdivision of Chandigarh, Haryana and Delhi has witnessed 18% less rains than normal so far this season.
