Wheat crop in PunjabWinters rains have once again returned to the states of Punjab and Haryana. Several parts of the region have already recorded scattered rain and thundershowers since Thursday morning. Chances of bright hailstorm along with high velocity winds are also bright. According to Skymet Weather, we can expect more spells of rains and thundershowers for another 24 hours.

These approaching rains have led to abatement of cold wave conditions from the region but have left farmers in fix. Rabi crop such as Wheat and Mustard across these two states are in standing stage and would be ready for harvest by next month.

As per weathermen, heavy rains along with strong winds and hailstorm can lead to disastrous situation for the crop. Any strong weather activity can result in crop lodging. Either the crop would completely be damaged or deteriorate the grain quality.

This is not all. Even if, farmers survive this rainy spell, there is another one approaching around February 6. In fact, the approaching spell is touted to be more aggressive than the present one.

During that time, most parts of Punjab and Haryana are likely to see widespread rain and thundershowers. This would be accompanied with hailstorm and strong winds. Weathermen added we can expect some damage during this time
